XL In & Out Porcelain

What is the biggest porcelain paving size?

Porcelain paving is becoming the most popular choice to use for outdoor patios and paths around homes in the UK. The standard sizes are 600x600mm and 600x900mm. However, when people have bigger areas, they often prefer using a larger porcelain slab as visually these fit the space better. Sizes such as 900x900mm and 1200x600mm are now becoming very popular.

What size porcelain paving is best for my garden?

As a basic rule of thumb, smaller gardens tend to use smaller slabs and bigger areas often look better using a larger slab. Please note this is not a strict guideline though as you can install whatever size porcelain paving that you require.
One point to note is that XL porcelain paving is generally slightly more expensive to install due to the additional labour required during the lifting, carrying and installation process.

How to lay large porcelain pavers?

In recent years we have seen a huge uptake in customers choosing larger format porcelain paving for their homes and gardens.
Gone are the days when the only choice of paving where the small basic concrete slabs, customers now have the opportunity to excel themselves with large format 900x900mm and 1200x600mm porcelain paving making their garden the envy of the neighbours down the street!

What grout to use on porcelain slabs?

We believe that a dedicated porcelain grout is the best choice when it comes to finishing and grouting your patio. It is hard wearing, flexible and does not shrink. The only negative is that it is time consuming to install and takes a lot of cleaning off the surface. Some homeowners and contractors are using a ‘brush in’ resin based jointing compound, but technically these are designed for use on natural stone, not porcelain. They are quick and easy to install but can blow out of the joints under the pressure of a jet washer during cleaning.

Do I need to use a priming slurry?

A priming slurry must always be used when installing porcelain paving. It will also be necessary for all natural stone with low porosity.
What is slurry primer? A slurry primer is coated onto the underside of paving immediately prior to laying.
Using a slurry primer dramatically improves bonding/adhesion between the paving and the laying mortar bed.
