Project Pack Mixed Size – Laying Pattern Guide
Mixed size project packs generally come in 4 set sizes as per below:
600mm x 900mm
600mm x 600mm
600mm x 295mm
295mm x 295mm
In the hard landscaping industry these packs are often known as a “600 series” project pack.
The natural stone gives a really classic appearance that is locked in a grid lock pattern.
Be sure to avoid ‘cross joints when laying Indian Sandstone project pack paving.
The idea is to break up the lines visually – not repeat long lines in the pattern.
The most popular laying guide for the mixed size project pack is – Random as below:
Stack Bond/Grid Laying Pattern Guide
This stack bond is as it sounds, the paving appears to be stacked on top of one another.
The stack bond is also commonly known in the industry as grid bond.
This method can be used on all square paving whether that be Indian Sandstone or Porcelain Paving. In this example we have chosen to show 600mm x 600mm but grid/stack bond is fine to use on any square tile irrespective of its size. please note some tiles go as large as 1200mm x 1200mm!
A straight stack bond is commonly used when people are wanting to create that contemporary clean, modern appearance with no broken lines.
This laying guide is most popular with porcelain paving.
Stretcher/Brick Bond Laying Pattern Guide
Stretcher bond commonly known as brick bond, is the most popular when using single sized rectangular paving slabs and tiles.
The method is when you lay a full course of paving and then on the second line of pavers you begin the line starting half way along the tile on the adjacent line course – this method is then repeated throughout the patio paving.
It is the exact same laying method as a traditional house brick would be laid.
Stretcher Bond Brock Bond pattern gives a nice subtle break up of the lines whilst keeping that clean uniformity of consistency and is very popular with our 600mm x 900mm porcelain paving and also our single size 600mm x 900mm Indian Sandstone Paving.
Stretcher/Brick Bond Laying Pattern with Square Tiles
Can I lay my square tiles in a stretcher/brick bond pattern?
Yes you can!
This laying pattern can used on square paving and is very popular with porcelain paving.
Please note you will have some more cuts within your project when laying a stretcher bond versus a straight grid pattern…however, personally we prefer the look of stretcher bond pattern for porcelain paving!
